USAF Wild Weasel Saab Viggen
This has been my “Secret project” for the past two years. She started life as Special Hobby 1/48 scale Saab AJ37 Viggen and then I added a bunch custom parts. Mainly stretching her nose to give it more of a F-4G look. This project has the most decals I’ve ever put on a model. Her stenciling was a daunting task. I broke it up to different sections and it took about a week or so. I’m really excited about how she turned out.
Custom parts
Scratch built new nose from kit part and high-density foam. Master part was then molded and resin pressure cast.
Forward pylons were modified with resin F-16 centerline pylons.
Under wing chaff/flare pylons are resin copies from Great Wall Hobby MiG-29 kit.
All pitot tubes are steel pins. The one in the tail, I nicknamed “Mr. Stabby” due to the number of times it got me.
Rear radar warning receiver above nozzle is custom resin part.
Intake plugs are super sculpey and exhaust cover is sheet styrene.
Centerline pylon is kit bashed with a Revell F-15E FAST pack pylon.
Modify kit parts
Drop tank was lengthened, molded and resin pressure casted
Upper air brakes sealed up due to poor fit.
Nozzle cover with Bare Metal Foil
One of the lower air brake were thinned down, holes drilled out, molded and pressure cast resin copies.
